Notes:
Only have about 90 games on it so far, best score 89 mil on factory settings.
Music is great. Exciting and faithful to the Simpson's soundtrack Multiball tunes are very well done, "couch multiball" my personal favorite.
Voice samples are kind of grainy. Humor is pretty good, had me chuckling at times.
Rule set is fantastic. Best I've seen. Overlapping modes increase the game's depth tremendously.
Software in general is VERY well done, obviously well-thought-out and complete.
| |||
Backglass lighting is too concentrated in one strip due to fluorescent tube (I'll be working on a solution)
Playfield is a joy to behold; well-lit and great lighting effects before, during, and after play. The amber ramps look wonderful.
Gizmos on playfield are fun and work well. The 3-ball couch is a great tie-in to the show. The upper playfield is really fun to play.
Simulated knocker is no good. It may be "digitally mastered" but it just sounds bad. I ordered the real knocker and installed it; see diagram here.
Certain modes in the game are fantastic..."Springfield Mystery Spot" is a particular stand-out.
Documentation is very complete and fun to read. Nicely done. |
Great job, Stern! (And thanks to Evan Steiner and Pinball Warehouse for selling me the machine).
Postscript:
We traded this machine in for a Star Trek: Next Generation machine since I was the only one playing Simpsons. The Star Trek game is more suited to the kids right now and gets lots of play time, which is the whole point for a family game.
