Below is a picture of the original ball deflector that went over the ramp transition. I always thought it was an eyesore, and the ironic thing was that balls could still get stuck on top of it! |

out of polycarbonate after ball-trap testing. |

Here's a close-up. You can see the hexagonal post which threads right onto an existing playfield mounting post. Atop the hex post is a plastic spacer, beveled to slope the deflector properly. |

If a ball lands on the deflector, it rolls onto the lower wire ramp. If a ball lands on the clear pop bumper, the slope of the playfield directs it into the "bumper garden". |

Conclusion: nice, clean look and no ball traps! The only potential downside is if a ball lands directly on the ramp switch; but there's an unprotected switch just like this at the other end of the ramp, and it has never been damaged by a ball as far as I know. |
